Welcome to Our Dunn School Family!
My name is Karilyn Mouzon, and it is my honor to serve as the Principal of Dunn Middle School. With more than 25 years of experience in education, I remain deeply committed to ensuring that every student feels connected, supported, and empowered within their school community. My career has been grounded in a guiding philosophy of advocating for underserved and underrepresented populations, ensuring equitable access to high-quality learning experiences for all students.
I hold both a K–12 Gifted and Talented Certification and an American Montessori Society Early Childhood Certification, credentials that reflect my belief in the power of differentiated, student-centered learning. My first decade in education was spent in early childhood and elementary classrooms, where I built a strong foundation in child development, instructional practice, and relationship-building with students and families.
For the past 12+ years, I have proudly served as a school administrator in roles that have expanded my understanding of whole-child education and community partnership. These roles include Director of 21st Century Programs, Gifted and Talented Program Coordinator, and Middle School Administrator. Each opportunity has strengthened my belief that when students are nurtured academically, socially, and emotionally—and when families are valued as essential partners—school communities thrive.
At Dunn, it is my H.O.P.E. that every family we serve walks away feeling seen, heard, and cared for. Healthy Outcomes through Positive Experiences is not simply a motto; it is the heartbeat of our work. Should you ever feel that the level of service or support you receive does not meet your expectations, I encourage you to reach out immediately. Your voice matters, and your experience matters.
I am excited for all that we will achieve together. Thank you for being a vital part of our community.
And as always… Get It Dunn!
